Originally published in 1913, How Girls Can Help Their Country, a guide for Girl Scouts, goes beyond the arts of “housewifery” and also included sections on ecology and physical fitness. Camp Fire Girls Book was the 1912 manual that offered advice on WoHeLo (Work, Health, Love). Both are interesting documents of how our grandmothers and great-grandmothers were encouraged to provide service to others, work as a team, and live well-rounded lives.
